Essay Competition
The Royal Society of South Africa’s National School Science Essay Competition has been running since 1997 – so 27 years!!
Every year we try to offer topics which are interesting, challenging and provide something for everyone. It is our hope that through this deeper exposure to science, more learners will be sufficiently excited by their discoveries whilst researching their chosen topic, to consider the study of the sciences as a future career choice.
Three or four topics are set annually and registered scholars from all South African Schools are welcome to enter via their Teachers.
In each topic there are three main prizes and two merit prizes awarded. There is also a special ‘Avid Educator’ prize for the teacher with the most winning pupils.
