Message from the President of the Royal Society of South Africa

 After a long break, I am delighted that we are sending this newsletter out to all Fellows and Members of the Royal Society of South Africa. I would like to express my sincere thanks to Prof. Marilize le Roes-Hill for taking on the task of editing the newsletter, and to those who have contributed to the content of this issue. 

The purpose of a newsletter to a scholarly society such as ours, is twofold – firstly, to bring news to our members about activities, achievements, and events in the lives of members of the Society; and secondly, to keep members up to date with activities and events of the Society. You will find some news of both in this newsletter, and as President, my section is mainly to update members on the activities of the Council.
